How Much Does Security Camera Installation Cost on Delmarva? (2026 Price Guide)
Updated October 2026 · By Jason Ochoa, Delmarva Camera Pros (Rehoboth Beach, DE)
Short answer: a professionally installed video doorbell usually runs a little over $100 in labor. Two Wi-Fi cameras you already own run about the same. A complete wired 4-camera system with a recorder typically costs $1,500–$2,000+ installed. An 8-camera system runs about $3,000 and up. National cost guides put the typical professional camera project at $590–$2,040, with an average of $1,289 (HomeAdvisor, updated June 2026). Where your project falls depends on how many cameras you need, wired vs. Wi-Fi, and how hard it is to get cable from point A to point B in your particular house.
Below are our published starting prices, what national guides say, and the factors that move a quote up or down on Delmarva homes, beach rentals, and small businesses.

What national cost guides say
Use these as a sanity check, not a quote. They average many markets and many types of jobs.
- HomeAdvisor: typical range $590–$2,040, average $1,289. Labor of $80–$200 per camera or $50–$100 per hour. A 4-camera wired IP system at $500–$1,500 total (HomeAdvisor).
- Fixr: national average $400–$800. A wired 4-camera system $600–$2,000 installed. An installed doorbell camera $125–$300 (Fixr).
- Big-box and on-demand installers (labor only): Best Buy's Geek Squad lists Wi-Fi camera installation for up to two cameras at $129.99 (Best Buy). HelloTech lists smart camera installs from $129 and video doorbells from $99 (HelloTech cameras, HelloTech doorbells).
Why do the ranges differ so much? Some guides count only labor, others include hardware, and "4 cameras" can mean four $40 Wi-Fi cams or four 4K PoE turrets on a recorder. When you compare quotes, compare what's included, not just the bottom line.
The 6 things that change your quote
1. Wired vs. Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi and battery cameras are cheaper to install because there's no cable to run. You're paying for mounting, setup, and getting the angles right. Wired PoE (Power over Ethernet) cameras use one cable for power and video and record to a network video recorder (NVR). They cost more up front because of the cable runs, but they don't depend on Wi-Fi signal or batteries. That matters if nobody's home to charge a battery at a second home in January. More on that trade-off on our wired PoE systems page.
2. How hard the cable runs are
This is the biggest variable for wired systems. An accessible attic over a one-story house in Milford or Millsboro is a straightforward job. Things that add time:
- Two- and three-story homes, or high soffits that need a taller ladder
- No attic access, finished ceilings, or cathedral ceilings
- Masonry, stucco, or block walls
- Cameras on detached garages, pole barns, docks, or sheds (long runs or a wireless bridge)
- Elevated beach houses where the best camera spots sit far from the recorder location
This is why we give starting prices and then confirm the price on site.
3. Number of cameras
More cameras means more cable, more mounting, and a bigger recorder. HomeAdvisor calls camera count the biggest driver of total cost (HomeAdvisor). Many single-family homes can be covered well with four cameras: the front entry or doorbell, the driveway, the back door or deck, and one side yard. Larger lots, corner lots, and properties with outbuildings move toward eight.
4. Hardware quality
Camera prices vary widely by resolution, night vision, and build. For coastal properties we recommend weather-rated housings and corrosion-resistant mounting hardware. The camera itself is only part of the price. A cheap camera that fails after one salty winter costs more in the long run.
5. Storage and monthly fees
Cloud cameras usually need a subscription to save recordings:
- Ring Protect: Ring Solo $4.99/mo (one device), Ring Multi $9.99/mo (all devices at one location), Ring Pro $19.99/mo (Ring plans).
- Google Home Premium (Nest): Standard $10/mo (30 days of event history), Advanced $20/mo (60 days of events plus 10 days of 24/7 history on supported wired cameras) (Google Store).
A wired NVR system records locally to a hard drive, so there's no required monthly fee. Over three years, a $9.99 plan adds up to about $360, and a $20 plan to about $720. That's worth counting when you compare a cheap Wi-Fi setup with a wired system.
6. Travel and scheduling
We're based in Rehoboth Beach and serve all of Delmarva, from Lewes and Salisbury to Dover and Wilmington. We don't charge travel-zone fees: the same starting prices apply across the peninsula, and we schedule farther-out jobs to fit our route.
Example projects (illustrations, not quotes)
These use our starting prices to show how a typical job adds up. Your property may differ.
- "I bought a Ring doorbell and two cameras." Doorbell install ($129) + Wi-Fi setup for two cameras ($129) = about $258 in labor, plus any transformer or chime parts if your existing doorbell wiring needs an upgrade.
- Year-round home in a Sussex County development. 4-camera wired package (from $1,795): doorbell-side entry, driveway, back patio, and side gate, recording to an NVR in a closet.
- Rental cottage in Rehoboth or Dewey. Beach house package (from $1,995): exterior cameras on entries and parking plus a doorbell, disclosed in your listing per Airbnb's rules. Add remote care ($15/mo) so someone notices if a camera goes offline in February.
- Shop on a main street. Small business package (from $2,495): register, front door, stockroom, and rear door, with phone access for the owner and a manager.
How to compare quotes
Ask every installer:
- Is hardware included, and which brand and model?
- Are the cable runs concealed (attic, soffit, wall) or surface-mounted?
- Where will the recorder live, and how many days of footage will it hold?
- Are there any required monthly fees?
- What's the warranty on labor and on hardware?
- Is travel included?
- Will you set up the app on my phone and on anyone else's who needs access?
Ways to keep the cost down
- Buy your own cameras and pay for labor only. That works best for Wi-Fi models and for PoE cameras we've confirmed are compatible.
- Prioritize. Cover entries and the driveway first, and add cameras later ($295 each on systems we install).
- Choose wired if you'll keep the system for years. No subscription required.
- Bundle visits. Combine a doorbell, cameras, and a seasonal check into one appointment.
FAQ
How much does it cost to install a doorbell camera on Delmarva? Our video doorbell installation starts at $129 for labor. Fixr's national range for an installed doorbell camera, including the unit, is $125–$300 (Fixr).
How much is a 4-camera security system installed? Our 4-camera wired package starts at $1,795, including hardware and installation. HomeAdvisor's national range for a 4-camera wired IP system is $500–$1,500, and Fixr's for a wired 4-camera system is $600–$2,000. Hardware quality and cable-run difficulty explain most of the difference.
Do I have to pay monthly for security cameras? Not with a wired NVR system, which records locally. Ring and Google Nest cameras need a paid plan to save video history (see the plan prices above).
Can you install cameras I already bought? Yes. Wi-Fi camera setup starts at $129 for the first two cameras and $49 for each additional one. Wired PoE cameras you supply start at $225 per camera for labor.
Is the assessment really free? Yes. We visit, plan camera placement, and give you a written quote. There's no obligation.
How long does installation take? A doorbell or a couple of Wi-Fi cameras usually takes 1–2 hours. A 4-camera wired system is typically one day.
